It’s always a beautiful thing to see two local entities working together to make the world a better place. Well the good people at Fat Head’s Brewery created a beer called Trail Head Pale Ale and it’s all about hitting the trails. Matt Cole, head brew master and co-owner started his brew master path back in Austria when he began to use the hop flower in his Hop-A-Noodle Soup. As many tried it and expressed how amazing his talent was, it became time to take steps forward and further his hop knowledge. After cruising around Europe and learning from many brew masters, he made his way to the states where he did an apprenticeship at Baltimore Brewing Co, then to Great Lakes Brewing here in Cleveland and then Rocky River Brewing before finally teaming up with others and launching Fat Head’s Brewery.
Now, Fat Head’s Brewery has become a power house not only in Cleveland but the rest of the world. Their beers are award winners in both the Great American Beer Festival, Wold Beer Cup and many others. They have made a name for themselves and truly set the bar for craft breweries.
With Fat Head’s Brewery, it’s not just about the beer, it’s about the community. That’s why they patterned up with the Cleveland Metroparks to help raise money for 100’s of miles of trails through out the parks. Each and every year, they make a sizable donation in honor our the trails in the parks. Over just the past 3 years, they have donated 10’s of thousands of dollars. In 2015, they donated $11,464, in 2016, they donated $30,777 and in 2017, they donated $30,000. Matt Cole is an active user of the trails so for him, it hits close to home. Fat Head’s supports the fund through sales of pints and growlers of Trail Head Pale Ale sold to the public, as well as from kegs sold and brewery-tour fees.
Thank you to Fat Head’s for being so involved in the community and contributing to the local environment.
