It’s s tough time for the owners and staff of the Crop Restaurant Group. A couple weeks ago, the announcement came that Crop Kitchen in Uptown would be closing. With the following statement on their website, the news made it’s way around Cleveland.
“With deep regret, we announce that Crop Kitchen has permanently closed its doors.
We have appreciated your business and want to send a big thank you from the Crop Kitchen team for allowing us the opportunity to serve you.
We hope you will visit us at Crop Bistro & Bar in Ohio City.
Should you have additional questions, please do not hesitate to contact us at 216-696-2767 and we will be happy to provide assistance.
All the Best,
The Crop Restaurant Group”
Now a few weeks after that announcement, the news has come out that both Crop Rocks and Crop Sticks on the East Bank of the Flats is closing as well. Two of the owners have left the Cleveland area with Scott Dilyard heading to California and Chef Steve Schimoler heading to Italy for 6 months. Steve Schimoler made the following statement on his Facebook page.
“As of today I start a 6 month sabbatical, retreat and exploration at a close friends Villa in Lucca Italy. Two years ago to the day, I had the chance to stay at Villa Valentina for 2 weeks and got to play in the kitchens doing dinners for the 20 friends and family on my terms. It was the most rewarding and enjoyable time Ive had cooking for quite some time.”
These two locations are set to close on September 11th and there is no information on what might be going into the empty space. As things unfold, we will update this article with more information.
We at Taste CLE wish Steve and Scott all the best and continued success at Crop Bistro.
