Barrio Tacos to Open on the East Side – Mad Greek Closing after 40 Years

Barrio Tacos coming to the east side of Cleveland.

Back in 1976, the Mad Greek was born and founded by Loki Chopra. For 40 years, they have been serving the communities around Cleveland Hts., Ohio. In 2002, Loki passed away and his son Chris took over the family business.

At the end of this month, the Mad Greek will be closing their doors after 4 decades. And the good people from Barrio will be taking over.

“We’ve been looking to go to the East Side for a long time and just haven’t found the right spot,” says owner Sean Fairbairn. “We’ve looked in Coventry and Lee Road and we just feel like the Cedar-Fairmount area is a great area.”

Barrio launched in Tremont about 4 years ago and since then has been growing at an incredible rate. This will be their 5th location, Tremont, Lakewood, E.4th, Progressive Field and now the Fairmont/Cedar intersection.

The addition of Barrio to this area will no doubt bring smiles to many East siders. Barrio has proven to be one of the best Mexican style restaurants/bars in our city. With them now expanding even more, people that haven’t had a chance to enjoy their food will be able to see what the craze is all about.
